Writing a company profile is weird. It's like the first day of uni when you have to tell the other class members all about yourself. I think they call it the 'icebreaker'. I never really looked forward to it; it's too much pressure to make an impression in such a short time... thankfully we had a few beers before we got started, always seems to get the thoughts flowing.
As much as we both hate to admit it at times, NZ and Australia share a lot in common. Hell, half of Melbourne’s made up of Kiwi’s capitalising on the decent wage. Anyway, here at Mr Vintage we put the rivalries aside and celebrate what we reckon is the most unique and bullshit-free culture around – Australasia. It was around 2004 that we started Mr Vintage in New Zealand; partly a patriotic act, partly because we were sick of seeing crappy sheep themed t-shirts everywhere, but mostly because it beat going to Uni and studying management theories all day long. Since then, we’ve been celebrating the culture and nostalgic moments that NZ has to offer, growing pretty steadily along the way. For years we’d discussed starting up an Australian counterpart, it just made sense really; If New Zealanders loved New Zealand, Australians too would more than likely also love Australia. It wasn’t a decision taken lightly, but we figured if it didn’t work out then we’d all just work at a café – a mate I used to work with at Bunning’s went there and apparently makes like $25 an hour pressing Panini’s. Beats the hardware dept. So yeah, one of our mates had a mate that had some warehouse space in Sydney – he was a good mate of our mate, so we knew he was legit. We packed all our v-necks, scoop necks and basically anything with a plunging neckline, and went for it. We hope you like what we’re doing. We’re basically buggered if you don’t. There’s a whole more I could tell you, but that’s what all the other pages are for. I suggest you check them out if you found this little piece more than vaguely interesting. And if you wanted a company profile for any press, just... just write your own one. P.S We use Facebook and Twitter lots. Become a fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. |
